If you will notice that the loco and last car has what appears to be regular knuckle couplers.  When I  was there and reported same was told I was mistaken.

These are broad gauge trains, 1520 mm (~5 feet).

These use a Russian coupler, the SA3.

This is an interlocking coupler but it has no knuckle. The two coupler bodies interlock and are locked in place by a mechanism that prevents them separating until released (like the knuckle lock does on US couplers.)

All the locomotives are either type ST44 (the Russian type M62) or rebuild of this type with Western diesel engines.
