https://images.app.goo.gl/qW7EFaGfk64ExU4s5 have not seen any news in Trains or any of the RR Trade mags and not even Railpace on this. The hole has been there for 3 years and is the largest railroad most expensive public works project in 100 years of Vermont History.
Drove across the VTR on two crossings yesterday. The Thompson's Point Rd crossing is temporarily gravel-filled and clearly has had no rail traffic in some days, though the 115 lb welded rail is still shiny. VT F-5 crossing in Charlotte also shows signs of low traffic, with ballast regulator sitting on the siding. Over on the east side of the state it's not clear to me how many VTR detour trains are running but they're easy to pick out - the horns are different.
Replacing the two bridges wouldn't suffice? How many trains a day? Two, four, six?

Have a look at this time lapse for an idea of the scope:

Someone with a better grasp of proprietary embed code and an actual keyboard and mouse can render this better. In the meantime you can watch it in miniature here, as well as read detailed progress of the project via the weekly updates, etc.:

Strange though that it looks like they lay track in the 1st half and then take it out to start putting precast concrete "U" sections in... I suppose track will be put on in those eventually.

Vermont Railway freight trains seem to go midday as far S as Phonix Feeds in New Haven Jct for a local and as far north as Omya in Pittsford VT. Spoted SB in Shelburn VT at 130pm

My recollection is this had something to do with the extension of Amtrak's Ethan Allen to Burlington.
VRS (Dave Wulfson CEO) asked for the possiblity of Double Stacks and Autoracks in the future. Burlington VT and the region is growing so the possiblity of a Inland Port and a regional distrabution hub like Ayer Mass could happen in the next 10-15 years.
