BNSF Glenwood Hill Question.
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 8:38 AM
As I was sitting back watching some of my Videos that I made a few years ago.
Why does the Dispatcher run one Coal Train up Main 2 and then cross it over to Main 1 at Balfour? And every once in a while the Dispatcher will run the Coal Trains streight through Main 2. I also have knocied that on a good day that there are at least 2 or 3 trains on the hill at same time. Just as one Train just clears "MY" location I can hear another one at the same time climbing just down the Track. That fun part of this line is watching the Westbound Hoppers doing 55 to 60 going down the hill, wooooosh!
Also, what is the Grade % of this line too?
In the Winter you can realy get some good photo shot's of Trains on the hill.
There is an area along an durt road where you can get Trains on a very steep Hill just looking down on the Train. That's the fun part. Now if only "IF" someone would go in there and start cleaning up some of the weeds and tree brush!
Just a thought.........LOL!
