I see we've been to a couple of the same places! Back in 2009, my wife and I spent two nights at the Izaak Walton Inn, and I have an almost identical shot of the EB Empire Builder coming by. And nearly two years ago in late September, we drove out to visit the New England states, including Mt. Washington. Didn't get to see the steamer go up the mountain, as we were on one of the last runs of the day.

Brian, staying at the Isaak Walton is great isn't it? We arrived and left on the EB. So many trains going by! I got lucky on Mt. Washington; I was up there (I drove up) shooting something for the trucking company that delivered fuel oil to the weather station on the summit. I saw two different trains, both with steam. That was quite a while ago. I warped the brake rotors on my truck driving down. They advise that you stop frequently to cool the brakes, and I did, some, but not enough and not long enough stops. The brakes smelled bad, and the hubcaps were too hot to touch when I got to the bottom. I'd been up there since dawn, it was getting dark, and I was hot to get off that mountain and find some dinner!
I, too, recognized the shot from the bridge in Essex. My wife and I visited in 2013 and stayed in the GN 441 locomotive. Rode in on the WB Empire Builder and flew home. The cab ride from the Izaak Walton to the airport in Kalispell was well over $100.
I'm just trying this to see if the "Forum" is working. No activity all day yesterday.
