Grain branchlines like these may only see sporadic or seasonal activity, and may go months without seeing a train.  The Google camera car may have simply gone by during one of these lulls.

If you look on google maps of the area and near the towns, look at roads where they cross the tracks and see the condition of the roadbed, it looks as if there is little or no  train movement at crossings as the track grooves are filled with gravel, I would assume there has been not much activity in these regions, even if the maps show different.

Those lines are still active as part of a shortline, Big Sky Rail.

Does anyone know if Canadian National is still running trains through Elrose and to Kyle? I haven't been out there for years but both places were breaks on the highway between Swift Current and Saskatoon.
