Mark W. Hemphill's February story "Royal Train"

Mark,
I really liked your article in February "TRAINS" magazine about the CPR "Royal Train", when I started to read it, I wanted to go on that trip "right now". Unfortunately I am still paying for my families round trip Amtrak tour from Illinois to Florida last April. We booked Deluxe Bedrooms both ways (2 children, 4 & 5yrs. old) and it was a GREAT experience. Someday I will make this trip on the CPR probably when I am old and gray (wait I'm already old, but not retired yet).

That was an excellent article! I was familiar with the Royal Canadian Pacific, but didn't know a whole lot about it until now. Like Jim, reading the article made me want to take the trip right now. I intend to ride this train someday! I've been to BC a few times and have been to many of the places mentioned in the article that passengers on this trip visit, but seeing them as part of this fantastic train trip would make it so much more exciting. I've always been upset that I was born too late to experience the Golden Age of Rail Travel, but I suppose that there is a chance to still get a taste of what it was like. Keep up the great work, Mark!

...Skimming through TRAINS I noted the ROYAL TRAIN article and good photos but overlooked that Mark had provided the article...Now I must make sure I don't forget to read that one. It is so easy to skim through and pick out articles and features and when one gets several magazines at about the same time....then eventually put the magazine on the stack and forget to check everything in it...and so on.

It is always hard to find time to read, but when my "TRAINS" magazine arrives, I always read it cover to cover even if it takes me several weeks!!

It was an excellent article, I as well knew about the CPR Royal Train, but didn't know much about it.

It sounds like an awsome trip, perhaps one of these days I'll be able to make a journey on it.

The Royal Train and other private trains all seem to have one thing in common besides price and that is no room is made for those with disabilities and rely on a wheelchair for mobility.
