OP, if you still have any from the 60s give me a shout. Need something to read during QT. .....lucysdriver@yahoo.com
Thanks Alphas, In shall investigate your suggestion however the cost of shipment internationally often outstrips the value of the product.
So if anybody 'Down - Unda' has some old RR Mags please respond.
'RustyShunter' - in Oz.
Railroad Magazines prior to the mid '40's are available in antique stores in my area with an asking price of $5 each. Later ones have an asking price of $4 or $3 depending upon how far into the diesel era they go. The dealer that bought mine probably will be asking to get $3 each as they were from the mid '50's into 1961. Being close to Altoona has supplied both Railroad and also the earlier Trains magazines (along with much other RR memorabilia) to the local antique dealers. That will slacken off as the years go by.
You can google Central Pennsylvania Antique Dealers as some indivdiual ones do post an inventory of what they are selling or at least catagory areas and they do distance selling. However, most including the Co-Op stores just post general information such as location, hours, and number of dealers in their store so you have to visit them in person.
There is a complete collection 1940 - c.2010 going begging here in Australia, if some Ozzie reader is interested? The owner does want to sell (and needs the cash) but would accept a reasonable return. - Any prospective buyer could contact via myself.
Re: Milw & Miss, post earlier - they are of course all available on CD_ROM already from your publisher - Kalmbach, as is 'Classic Trains'
PS: Does anybody have a source of old 'Railroad Magazines' pre 1940's and early 1950's sought?
I have a lot of WW 2 issues and have considered scanning them, but that is a lot of scanning one page at a time.
There is a market for the magazines under the right conditions. I sold all of my old Trains and Railroad magazines from the 1950's through the earlier part of this century at a large summer non-auction "estate sale" last year. I had mentioned them in the sale's adds. The sale went Thursday-Saturday and officially started at 8:00 AM each day. The first day the buyers started showing up at 6:30 and the next 2 days just before 7:00. (Fortunately we suspected this woud happen and we were prepared for it.) These magazines were all gone before 8:00 the first day. All the Railroad magazines were sold as a group to an antiques dealer who came before 7:00 who paid $40 for 41 (one was missing its cover so it was a throw-in) and also took 40 Trains magazines of the similar time period for $30, along with buying other non-RR items. A second antiques dealer came 10 minutes later and paid me 50 cents each for the available Trains magazines prior to the early 1980's, again along with other non-RR items. The rest went to a rail fan who showed up just before 8:00 especially for the advertized magazines. He also purchased some old farming and auto items so I sold him the rest of the Trains magazines for 25 cents each. (The non-advertized 12 Model Railroad magazines also went for $3 total later that morning.) I had more than a dozen other inquires about the magazines during the sale. So there is interest in them even if you don't get that much apiece for them.

We are downsizing. I'm giving away other publications besides Trains.
Whatever the problem!

Never too old to have a happy childhood!
Magazines are less and less attractive to libraries. It took me forever to give away just ten years or so of Trains, Classic Trains, and MR. After two months a guy found me and snagged them for his kid. Kid excited about trains.
I used to leave a copy here and there in doctor offices, but now all magazines have been removed from same.
Some serior living apartments might take them, except if they are like mine, they have closed common areas and removed furniture, nothing like magazines that could spread disease. allowed.
I know if I had a 60 year colletion of Trains, I wouldn't have room for it in my apartment here.
Local libraries used to be an option, if the collection was complete. Now, they don't seem to be interested in adding them and lending them out. Our local library will take collections like this, and put them in the next book sale so your donation does support the library in a way.
Flintlock76They'll come back, eventually.
Indeed, they will. Don't know the OP's schedule for moving the magazines - if he wants to do it soon, the train show route won't work. If he can wait, it's an option.

tree68But train shows are kind of rare this year.
They'll come back, eventually. So will car shows, antique shows, craft shows, militaria shows, Comic-Cons, and other shows.
This crisis will pass, as they all do eventually, and people will want to get back to their normal daily lives as soon as possible. Living in fear is no way to live. Some people enjoy it, most don't.
I'd suggest a trip to a train show - you'd probably be able to move them for, say, a quarter per, paying for the booth, and meet some interesting people to boot.
But train shows are kind of rare this year.
Why not put them on CD-ROM and then you could always respond to someone that was missing an issue without taking up a lot of space at home? Additionally, you could donate to a library that is already a TRAINS Magazine subscriber to archive however they want.
Try your local Hobby Shop??
I may be interested. Can you PM me?

I have been a subscriber all or most of this time, but now I need to give away my collection. I can't be sure if there are any missing issues. If interested, please post a question here so that everyone can see the reply.
I ask only that you Paypal me for the cost of shipping, as UPSP printed matter.
