What areas from Herington-DFW are you looking at modeling? The operations were officially combinded into the UP 10-31-89. After that, all the former Katy formats were thrown out the window. I am in the process of writing a book on the nine yr history of OKT. Project is now being proofread by qualified personall and looking at submitting to publisher in summer, no later than fall. This likely will be in the same format of my CKR/KSW book of 2018.
DDavidsonFarms Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone could give some info or refer me to somewhere on some information about the Oklahom-Kansas-Texas (O-K-T). This line was a former Rock Island route became a subsidiary of the Katy right after the liquidation of the Rock. I’m looking for info on what operations looked like, types of traffic, equipment used, etc. I’m looking at the possibility of modeling this railroad as an independent company, rather than as an MKT subsidiary. I’d be modeling it sometime in the 90s, so Union Pacific operations over the line after the MKT merger would be useful too. Thanks!

cut FTA:"...Some railroad employment eventually returned to Herington with the St. Louis Southwestern Railway taking over the Golden State Route and the startup Oklahoma-Kansas-Texas Railroad taking over former R.I. train operations from Salina, KS, south through Wichita into Oklahoma and Texas. Later coming to town following mergers was the Union Pacific. Total employment by the U.P. in Herington now stands about 225-plus. But it took more than 20 years for the town to regain at least 200 railroad jobs.."
