Yes, John Prine will be missed, one of the greatest poets and song writers of our time.

And yes, a style and delivery that carried the message of his songs perfectly.

I have been a fan pretty much from the very beginning of his career.

Talk about evil in the world Steve Goodman is exactly the opposite.

Before the City of New Orleans

Steve Goodman - Live 69

More... " when the Blackhawks are in town" .. you bet!
Easter Parade, ... play on Sunday!

**Actually that's only from my perspective.. it's "when the Blackhawks are on the road " so the old smoothies can use the rink!  You see being a Blackhawks fan when they were in town (Toronto)  I would buy tickets from a scalper and go with my daughters.
Of course we were not very popular but we were tolerated. Lot of fun, good memories.

Mr. Prine had an "upbeat irreverence" few people in his genre could match; we'll miss him.

The first time I heard this song, I was reading a Trains Magazine article on Peabody's coal train, and have always associated the two things since.  I don't know if it puts a different spin on the song's message ... to us railfans.

In a sense Calypso Island was worse, if not named quite so iconically.

Funny thing is that I never recognized John Prine wrote the song until now.  I suppose better late than never.
