The 75th Street Corridor is a major choke point, and I ride over it twice a day.  A fair chunk of the properties abutting the rights-of-way are individual houses so acquisition is going to be a drawn-out business.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

CSX has hired an outfit to begin survey and property acquisition for its part of the 75th street create project.   MC any ideas for what problems they may have ?  Are property records fairly good at those locations?

CSX Selects Right-Of-Way Consultant for 75th St. CIP P3/GS19

January 29, 2020 - The CREATE partners are pleased to announce that CSX has selected Mathewson Right of Way Company (MROWCO) to provide right-of-way acquisition services for a portion of the CREATE Program's Forest Hill Flyover (project P3) and 71st Street Grade Separation (project GS19), two of four projects that comprise the 75th Street Corridor Improvement Project (75th St. CIP). Mathewson Right of Way Company's team is anticipated to provide licensed land surveying, title work, appraisals, preparation of plats and legal descriptions, negotiations, settlements and project management beginning in quarter two of 2020.

"We're pleased to bring on the Mathewson Right of Way Company team that has expertise with IDOT Division of Highways Land Acquisition Policies and Procedures as well as the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970 to ensure any property acquisitions follow federal policy and owners are fairly compensated," stated Tom Livingston, Head of State Government Relations and Community Affairs for CSX.

The CREATE partners' commitment to creating economic opportunities in the surrounding neighborhoods is reflected in both the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation goal (15%) for this work, as well as the number and size of project elements in the Request for Proposals (RFP). The Mathewson Right of Way Company team includes two DBE firms.

1.             American Surveying & Engineering, P.C. - surveying
2.             1st AEROW Valuation Group - appraisals

There will be additional opportunities for right-of-way acquisition, engineering, construction and supplier opportunities on the 75th St. CIP. DBE firms are encouraged to register through the CREATE website for email invitations to respond to professional services bid opportunities for contracted work. All CREATE Program partner procurements will be sent through the CREATE procurement notification email. Notifications are also made through newspapers.
