Wonder how far the conductor had to ride on the end of the train? Looked very cold hanging on that covered hopper car.

I think both scenes are in the Davenport area. Clinton refers to the BNSF train being their Clinton local. While DM&E/CPRS now, the trackage between Davenport and Clinton was the old Davenport, Rock Island and Northwestern. Commonly called the DRI Line, owned by the Milwaukee Road and CB&Q/BN. Both owners and the RI had trackage rights over it. Eventually the Milwaukee bought out the BN's share with the BN (now BNSF) retaining their rights over it.
The IAIS scene is the old Missouri Division Jct, where the Golden State Route diverged off the Denver main. Both routes, including the street running area, were double track in RI days.
