Happy Birthday Bergie! I was gonna mention the Kate Shelly Bridge as well. Its a great place to watch trains. Ames is always nice too. The curves and higher speed through town is nice along with the AHS (Automated Horn System).

Bergie.

You wobble into the river city from cheeseland and you are forgetting about Boone Valley Scenic and the Kate Shelley Bridge just to the north at Boone (west of Ames)?
(Best get your pictures of the bridge now before that changes at the end of the summer...hint, hint)....Put some of that newfound wisdom (that comes with age) to work.

You guys (and gals, of course!) are the best. Thanks for all your kind comments.

LC: If you must know... 34

Dave Nelson: Some Friday afternoon, you and Keith need to show up in his squad car and force me to join you at Waterford Ave. I can't believe it's been over a year since I said I'd join you guys. Yikes!

Madam Von Mook: Yep, me and Elvis. I typically have a few out of body experiences on each birthday and inexplicably start speaking like the King. Still can't dance though. You better be a good girl... on Saturday I'm going to be two-thirds of the way to your place. To celebrate my birthday, I'm going to Des Moines to watch my alma mater (Bradley U.) play basketball against Drake. Of all the things I never thought I'd want to do on a birthday! Driving to Des Moines? I must be nuts. I told my wife that once we're west of the Quad Cities I'll set the cruise control and hook a bungee cord from the bottom of the steering wheel to the bottom of the driver's seat and get some shut-eye. She didn't get it... I don't think she's ever experienced I-80 across Iowa (or I-O-way as my grandfather used to pronounce it, God bless `em).

My New Year's resolution is to meet more of you in person this year. Maybe a little "family reunion" is in order. Although, if I can't find time to get together with Keith Schmidt and Dave Nelson to go railfanning on the other side of Milwaukee, I'm not sure I should start stirring everybody up about a big get-together. [:o)]

As the King would say, "thank you, thank you very much." Any Des Moines hot spots I need to know about?

Ah - an auspicious (or suspicious) occasion that will require a shipment of kibbles and tuna your way!

Didn't think you were going to get the chocolate cake did you?

Oh - and you've got another wrinkle in your birthday suit!

Happy Birthday young guy.

Rumor has it that in honor of the occasion there will be no bad language, insults or general flaming through the weekend. Should have been longer but everybody had a different opinion on the length of the extension. [banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead]
