I don't think I've ever seen any maintenance equipment up close. I see the NS service trucks a lot, but rarely on the tracks. Sparking wheels in the darks is quite the sight, though!

Congrats on your catch.  One additional first for you to look forward to is the first time you see a rail grinding rig working at night. Quite a sight.

Was up early, ran an errand or two and was out at my spot around 6:40am. Still dark, but its neat to see the rails glow when trains comes down the tracks. Sure enough, I see the tracks glow from both the east and west! My first meet-up I ever witnessed, so I'm pretty stoked. Eastbounder turns out to be special paint, which I later learn to be a NS Heritage unit. West bound is a trash train, but still pretty happy with my catch.

Happy New Year to all my fellow foamers!

Regards - Steve
