Actually most of the short lines I work for either do clear them or it is never an issue due to their climate and location. Luckily the Senior Management folks got their start on the track...

ha, pray for spring, not sure if i should do that as we still dont have snow here. Only a short window that i can make money here with snow before i go back to school. If i dont get that i then need spring early to start mowin.

Two of the places were work at are usually under several inches of water at any time
And the elevators have several inches of rotten corn or bean between the tracks. Now, the water logged areas will be frozen, YEAH!!!

Service Bulletin - Winter Weather Alert
January 06, 2005

The following weather alert is in effect. Customers in these areas should expect delays of two to three days for traffic traveling into or through these areas.

A Level 1 winter weather alert is in effect for CSX's Chicago Division. That includes Chicago, the entire state of Michigan, and parts of northern Indiana and Ohio.

The level definitions are listed below for reference:

Level 1 - Substantial inclement weather conditions are being encountered (or are expected imminently) within the specified region. Scheduled service and traffic connections will be maintained as practical to the situation.

Level 2 - Adverse weather conditions have affected the specified region. Local switching, scheduled service and normal traffic connections will be affected.

Level 3 - Adverse weather conditions have severely affected the specified region. Only critical trains will be operated. Trains will operate on straight moves and limit use of crossover moves to the extent practical. Local switching, scheduled service, and normal traffic connections will definitely be affected.

Customers can also help CSX serve you safely by doing the following:

Keep the area around the switch stand clear of snow and ice.
Clean walkway areas where the crews may need to access the facility or cars during service.
Make sure that close clearance signs are free of snow and clearly visible for the switching crews.
