It sort of sounded like the HEP car 3rd up from the trailing locomotive was adding some sound to that of the trailing locomotive in the video.

Good point.

Anyone know the status of the trailing loco?  Was it idling, or running train lined , or using DPU ?

Sounded like it was running higher than idle on that first run-by.  My first guess would be DPU.

We run a locomotive at each end of our PE trains.  This simplifies the return trip as we simply have to "boxcar" the now-rear locomotive and what was the trailing locomotive at the other end of the consist becomes the controlling loco.  Both are manned, as the trailing loco also serves as a helper for part of the trip to the "North Pole."

I would also guess that a similar logic may apply for the train in question, if they will be placed in situations were they may not be easily able to run around the train (the need for DPU notwithstanding)

As far as I know it traveled up the Cajon Pass on Monday to Barstow but I'm not quite sure what her schedule is after that.

Hey guys. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas. Here is a video of the BNSF Christmas Train that I just finished editing. I caught the afternoon train arriving in Fullerton and also en route to San Bernardino, including the emergency stop in Corona. Hope you enjoy.
