KY CSX Question
Posted by atrainguy60 on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 6:49 PM

Hi, I was wondering about activity on the CSX main between London, KY and Jacksboro, TN?  Is this line particularly busy and worth checking out?  Just wondering since I may be taking a trip down to the Corbin area eventually to meet family, and I'm curious about railfanning opportunities while I'm there.  I do see the NS north-south main (Rathole?) to the west and plan on railfanning that one as well.  I've heard good things about it.

CSXT is running 4 to 6 trains a day. Patio still does local switching. Corbin may have a set of power in the yard and a train waiting to go south. Recently followed the line from Patio to Corbin and saw zero trains and there were no locomotives sitting in either Patio or Corbin

Visited the line this weekend - two sets of CSXT power at Patio, plus an R J Corman Genset, a set of CSXT power at Richmond and a set of CSXT power at East Bernstad, two sets of CSXT power at Corbin. Saw one train southbound. CV line is for sale.
