Yes, they are of the L090 aar designation.  Looked on RRpictures archives and found an INLX car that is L090, it is a hot metal car. Thanks for the information

I know that molten steel cars are NOT tank cars in the ICC/DOT world. I have no knowledge about AAR class, but suspect is not a tank car there either.

Before we get too far down the rabbit hole, many hot-metal cars are AAR class LS (like Schnabel cars) because they are 'two ends' with the bottle in the middle.  Type of many of these cars is L090.  Does this apply to the specific car design you have in mind?

These cars that carry molten steel are definitely specialized tank cars.

Are you referring to the cars steel mills use move molten metal between various parts of their plants?

What is a 'torpedo bottle car'?

I was a Bureau of Explosives Inspector and know there were cars that carried multiple high pressure cylinders of non-liquefied compressed gas all tied together by a charging/discharging maniford at one end of the car. Helium comes to mind as perhaps the most common lading so transported. The actual containers were basically high pressure cylinders. I never saw one in the flesh. Is that what you are asking about?

What is the AAR car class for a torpedo bottle car?  I just looked at the AAR car classifcations and the only one that I can figure that fits this is car is class TS, which is designated as a tank car used in special service..  Am I correct in my assumption?
