Listened to the local weather for Central Maryland this evening - despite getting 3+ inches of rain in the past week - those that make the determination say that wee are still in a Drought condition - not as severe as it was before the rain, but still in drought nevertheless. We are supposed to get some more rain from TS Olga Sunday.

I will vouch for the high water levels on the Great Lakes. Lake Michigan is near its historic high level and much of the bicycle and walking trail along the lakefront will get closed when the weather gets nasty. The same applies to the stretch of the Outer Drive between Ohio and Oak Streets.

Went out before the storm this morning.Some ND&W guys were looking at things but not much moving.Csx sent some trains by as well.West of town they are working along the bridge over the Maumee river.Looks like the county has started the new country road project.They(CSX)want to eliminate 2 crossings west of old US 24.But to do that new connector roads need to be built first.Wonder if they are going to replace the farmers crossing near the Bend bridge as well.Going to stay inside and keep dry.

Mother nature is done raining and blowing for now.Plenty of wet leaves in the yard.After work heard an Ace horn on Ns.Couldn't see if it belonged to Ns or not.Going to have some supper then relax.
Still some rain here, although the wind has settled down. Got 1.64" so far - enough to give me a little water in the basement. One of these days I'll figure out where it's coming in and do some plugging.
Weather prognosticators tell us there's some colder weather coming. No surprise there. I'll be inside all weekend with the big train show in Syracuse.

Our rain came yesterday evening and overnight...2.6 inches' worth. That brings us up to 5.6 for the month. For Chicagoland, the average rainfall during October is 2.7 inches, "rarely exceeding 4.9 inches". I can't find out whether we've set a record this month, but we still have four more days to go--two of which have rain in the forecast.I almost forgot to mention...happy Kalmbach Day!

It continues to snow here. Halloween will be about the only clear day during the week. Still weeding out the bad winter drivers (lots of 'em do not understand ice.) The ground was warm, so the pavement was the last to frost over, about 16 hours after it started to snow. The mountain fires have ceased.

Sixty-one degrees here in the north country today. It's supposed to get colder for the weekend, but I don't recall any snow in the forecast, and as Skywarn coordinator, I get the skinny straight from the forecasters.
In fact, highs are supposed to be in the 50's all week, with lows just down into the 30's. There's rain and wind to be expected, though, so we'll see what plays out.
Hopefully it's decent for the weekend - maybe a threat of rain - so folks attend the train show in Syracuse.

Snowstorm #2 showed-up about 6 hours early, already dumped 6" on us in about 8 hours. (Office is about 1/3 full today) The wind is playing games with the light rail catenary across the freeway with sporadic flashes of bright blue making life interesting. Not interested in going home until the liabilities get off the road or are already in the ditches. Lots of multiple car bumper car incidents in the last 24 hours with chains being allowed in-town.
Halloween is going to be interesting.

Returned from a two day power outage bugout to find the power back on but Not internet or TV service - thank you Comcastic! Have to reconsider spending $$ on a UPS when the CableCo can't keep their upstream equipment online like wireline telcos can (oops, used to, don't have AT&T 'service' to compare).
Aside from a little snow near Lake Tahoe, no rain and very low humidity are the current conditions here in NorCal. Another offshore 'wind event' is starting today from north to south, causing the PoCos to shut off power in some areas. No SMART (SonomaMarin) rail service today due to non-functional grade crossing gates.
That nasty fire in Sonoma county barely has any containment, but a huge Thank You to fire crews coming in from all over the west and even midwest. Once the winds calm down around Thursday, the large water dropping aircraft can be used again.

We had some snow Sunday, yesterday, and today--we sent the most of it towards MC. The morning tmperature yesterday was about 20, and about 30 this morning. From what the weatherguessers say, we have used too much heat so far this week, and it is going to be about 12 tomorrow morning.
From the reports as to snowfall at the ski resorts, I though t they would open this week, but they say, "Not yet."

Speaking of two-day power outages, almost all of town lost power from Saturday 5:15 AM till Sunday about 3:30 PM. Olga was a small storm, but it was amazing how many trees got knocked down all over town.

I'm glad I do not live in NE Utah (west of Wyoming and just south of Idaho)--Peter Sink was the coldest place in the country yesterday: -42. That area has several low spots which seem to suck cold air in.

Paul already gave you our forecast; we're taking our shift at the Peck House Museum this afternoon. There's work going on at the Grace Street crossing, but it isn't keeping me from seeing whatever happens by. We got 1.1 inches of liquid precipitation yesterday, and more this morning before Pat decided to take in the rain gauge (dropping temperatures concerned her a bit). That puts us over twice the normal amount of precipitation here in our area.Oops, another train coming (probably just the scoot). Later!

After work it looked like Ns was getting ready to load up it's Mow equipment on trucks as I left work.Came home and cleaned up some of the yard.The swamp has returned with the latest rain we had.Errands to do tomorrow.Will see if Csx is running anything while were are out.
