My memory or understanding may be imperfect on this...
When the BN started using the ex-Milw line between Terry and Morbridge, the trains left the BN track just east of Miles City and used the ex-Milw track to get to Terry. BN has since established a direct track connection in Terry and abandoned the Milw track between Miles City and Terry.
N.B. The Milwaukee track charts show a track connection at Terry, BUT that connection has the points facing west on the Milw track and facing east on the BN tracks. This would require a backup move for coal heading east. The interchange just east of Miles City was the other way around and the trains would run straight through each way.
Terry is of interest to me as my grandfather was helping his future brother-in-law to supply horses for the grading of the Milwaukee line through Terry. Later on my aunt and oldest uncle were born in Terry and my cousin Sally's oldest daughter was born when she was living in Terry.
NP track chart provided at this link, page 5, shows a connection between the two railroads at Terry. Yes, MILW crossed over NP east of town, flyover still in use today.

BNSF timetable from October 2017 shows the Forsyth Sub as entirely CTC, and the Hettinger Sub as entirely TWC.
I believe that the MILW went over the NP at Terry, Montana and that there was never a track connection between the two railroads.
Per BNSF emplyee TT's, westward train off the Hettinger Sub must receive permission from the Forsyth Sub dispatcher to enter the siding at Terry. Can anyone tell me if there is CTC at Terry or on the Forsyth Sub in general.
Does anyone have a railroad map of Terry that I can view. I assume that everything west of the siding off the Hettinger Sub to the Forsyth Sub in abandoned.
