I can only wonder if any top brass got the (boot).

Surely you jest!  The LAST people to be shown the door are those responsible for creating the mess.

They probably created an executive level position to handle the large scale furloughs and associated news spin.

Jeff

And this individual will likely be very busy.

Story over on Newswire quotes NS’ Alan Shaw as saying they are looking to improve the productivity of yard and local crews which is management speak for “we’re getting rid of more people.”

This tends to confirm what I’m hearing that utility and brakeman positions will either be eliminated or drastically cut in yard and local service.

This should be another homerun for shareholders and executive bonuses while at the same time locals are unable to complete all their work and getting trains into and out of yards will become problematic.  I would not be surprised if safety suffers as well.

Top brass - no!

Entry level brass reaching for the brass ring - they are no more than wage slaves to be tortured and abused shining the boots of the top brass - if they aren't let go.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!
