zardozSo it won't get bombed?
Makes sense. I have a pretty much white roof now and I don’t get bombed any more.
"+1" to zardoz's post above - first thing I thought of.

Thanks for the prompt reply. These things happen. I'm sure you fellas can handle it.
Unfortunately not, 1392 developed a leaking boiler tube on the August long weekend and is currently out of service. F3A 9000 is running this weekend.
The repair (plugging the tube) is not terribly difficult or expensive by steam locomotive standards, but with our limited volunteer labour could not be completed in a few weeks. 1392 will be back in steam next spring.

Dude- Are you running steam out at the Museum this weekend?
The tops of the ends of excess height cars are painted white and marked as such, maybe this carried over to the roof. Centrebeams, hoppers and other cars have the same colour roof as the rest of the carbody.
Locomotive cab roofs are being painted white now too. I can only guess at the reason, but reflecting sunlight and heat seems a logical answer.
So it won't get bombed?
Possibly insulated car? - white roof reflects sunlight.
