Steam Horns

This is a bit aside from normal conversation here, but I was enjoying a video review of Rapido's newest HO model, an Icon of Canadian Steam, the Royal Hudson 4-6-4.  I read of Bob Swanson's newer whistle on CP's 2816, and then did a search.  I enjoyed this video, and you might as well.  A Canadian engineer, Bob designed steam horns for ships and other applications.

Nice!  I have felt like having a small boiler and getting the neighbourhood onto its hind legs in the morning with a two or three chime steam whistle.  After some tea and a PB&J sandwich, that feeling goes away. Thankfully. Laugh

A local fire department (located on the St Lawrence River) has a boat whistle they use as part of their alerting.  It used to have a real "Rube Goldberg" timing mechanism that sped up as it ran.  Interesting to watch.
