After reading about the large number of train car orders in 04 and the huge backlog in the Feb. 04 issue, being the a new railfan, Im curious to know how long does it take to build your typical railcar (box car, reefer, covered hopper, open hopper, flat etc)?

And on average how much does it cost to buy a new rail car?
