Fred M Cain I have found these responses most interesting. However, does the CPR, in fact, operate a through intermodal train from Chicago to Vancouver? If so, what would the running time be from Minneapolis to Vancouver? I could try contacting the CPR but I doubt that they would give me that information.

Yes they do run a through Intermodal train from Pitt Meadows IM terminal just east of Vancouver to Chicago's Bensonville IM terminal and it makes a setout eastbound and a pickup westbound at Shoreham IM terminal in Minneapolis daily. The train is symboled 198 eastbound and 199 westbound.

CMStPnP I raised a similar question earlier on the potential for a TWIN CITIES to Calgary train and someone had an old Soo Line timetable with the Winnepegger timings on it. It was very slow running.

Near the end the Winnipeger was a higher class local train as far as the Canadian Border.
Westbound Gate cutoff at Minneapolis is 12 noon for Intermodal with fourth morning availability in Vancouver.
Eastbound is 0:00 midnight Gate cutoff at Vancouver with availability in Minneapolis on the fourth afternoon.
Does anybody know what the approximate running times are for the fastest freights on the CPR between the Twin Cities and Vancouver?
Or, would anybody know where that information can be found?
