As I recall, we ran a similar thing here on the forum (by the forum members, not via Kalmbach).  It, too, ran out of steam.

Associate Editor Brian Schmidt reply-post mentioned a “lack of interest” as a reason.  Oh, yes, I remember that disappearance of Trackside very, very well, and that sudden lack of interest.  May I suggest purchasing, or at least checking out a copy of it at your local library, the famed book “The Prince,” by Niccolo Machiavelli?  (If you are not a reader or don’t have time, a simple synopsis will suffice.)  That centuries ago statesman-author saw many things in life, and came up with some key premises to avoid problems for oneself.  Every railroader – after resolving to maintain their moral integrity -- should read that book, and you should too, Mr. Railwolf!  You will be a lot, lot wiser and glad you did!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- K.P.’s absolute “theorem” from early, early childhood that he has seen over and over and over again: Those that CAUSE a problem in the first place will act the most violently if questioned or exposed.

Huh, that's a shame. Was there an official announcement that I missed?

It went on hiatus do to technical issues, and, due to an overall lack of interest, it has not been a priority to return.

Trackside with TRAINS?

Pardon my (probable) ignorance, but whatever happened to the Trackside with TRAINS Photo Contest? It used to feature prominently near the bottom of the TRAINS Magazine e-mail newsletter, but has been absent for quite some time now. I entered several times and miss seeing the photos in my inbox, and voting on the entries.
