I got the impression that all the narrow gauge trackage was not being used for rail transportation - note that they stated at some locations farmers had errected barbed wire fences across the railroad to keep their livestock from straying. Once they got to the junction with 'main line' standard gauge track they stated they obtained permission to occupy the track until 5 PM. Who and where the permission was obtained from was not stated.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
In addition to the tourist train out of Esquel, there supposidly is also one out of El Maiten. The line seems remarkably intact for mostly being out of service.
As long as the knuckleheads were "facing north for a northbound moose," the problem will self-extinguish.
As long as the track is out of service, fine. We have knucleheads in CO and CA that can't seem to understand that. One of Uncle Pete's locals caught people doing that in Western CO not that long ago.
