gmpullmanHa! Caught me.
Just teasing. I know you knew better...
[/quote]I used to type CRT quite frequently as the abbreviation for cathode ray tube (remember those?)[/quote]
Oh, yes, all too well. In the wars to determine the system for digital television in the United States, one official reason to preserve interlace in digital transmissions (one of the most utterly pointless things in the entire history of technology!) was to preserve 'competitive advantage' for the then-makers of many analog TV sets, most of which in those years before cheap and nice flat panels utilized CRTs of some complexity produced in expensive facilities. I find the pain of this stupidity is still sharp today when reminded about it.
Overmod(Minor nit-pick, Ed: it's "Ctrl" (abbreviation of 'Control shift')
Ha! Caught me. I used to type CRT quite frequently as the abbreviation for cathode ray tube (remember those?) C t r l. isn't an abbreviation I type very frequently so I should have used more C a u t i o n.
At least the idea got across —
Cheers, Ed

Thanks again

In my opinion, this (or the information Ed includes in it) is important enough to be made a 'sticky' to make it easy and direct for future posters to find
(Minor nit-pick, Ed: it's "Ctrl" (abbreviation of 'Control shift') unless you have typing dlysleixa. On a Mac it's Cmd-C and Cmd-V respectively (Mac folks know this is the key with the little castle foundation symbol on it, a fascinating hangover from the early and wonderful days when Philadelphians contributed materially to the Mac Manhattan Project...)
zardozWhen creating the post, the image shows up just fine (using the insert/edit image icon just above this text);
I use Flickr all the time. Do not use the "insert/edit image" icon. On your Flickr page, select the image you want to post, click the "share" upward turned arrow.

Select BB Code as the share method and highlight the text in the window that appears.

Crtl+C to copy this text. Go back to the (any Kalmbach) forum text reply box and hit Crtl+V to paste that link into your forum reply. The photo will not show but the link to it will. Be sure your image is set to "public" in the viewing preferences at Flickr. Then click Submit Reply.
Good Luck, Ed
Convicted OneHave you previously had success hot linking to Flickr?
A little while ago there were some corporate changes at Yahoo, as well as changes to how their Flickr site looks and functions.
I will indeed give Imgur a try. Thanks. If I can get it to work, y'all will see the results here.
zardozI've tried numerous times to post a photo, but I cannot get it to show. When creating the post, the image shows up just fine (using the insert/edit image icon just above this text); but when I submit, nothing shows but a small square that, when clicked, leads to a 404 page.

I didn't know that they allowed that. I always thought that Flickr, much like PhotoBucket, they provide a repository but not a hosting service.
Like Miningman suggested, give Imgur a try.
just lately Imgur has made their boilerplate innerface less user friendly, if you have any problem sorting it out, just ask and I'll share what I have found that works
Sounds and looks like the image is not set up for the internet. It would work in an email but not posted to the net.
What I do is save the image to my photo file then I go to Imgur and the image can be accessed and wil show from my photo file. From there I can upload load it the internet following their prompts. Once finished, a few seconds, it can be copied. Then it is ready to be inserted on the Trains Forum.
