Many thanks to Peter Hansen for his well-written article on the aftermath of the Golden Spike. On the 13th or 14th of May I will be at the post office to buy my sheet of commorative forever stamps. Thanks, Pete, for the clear narratives you presented on several sub-topics. Sometimes, railroad articles are presumptive that the reader is already an expert in the field. Thanks for laying out the sequence of events regarding Promontory, its grade, and its 1942 demise. That led me to read Wikipedia on the Lucin cutoff.
