O. Winston Link is mine. Talk about working to get a photo! Imagination, perspective, content!

Paul Stringham took some wonderful shots in the mid-west particularly in the Peoria area. Some of the old Lucius Beebe books have his shots. Unfortunately most people know those books through the cheaper reprints that muddy the photos some. Actually Beebe himself took some very nice shots but he was not the most imaginative of photographers.

Who is your favorite steam era photographer? Phil Hastings and Robert Hale get my vote. This months TRAINS had some of Hastings work, beautiful. I have always envied the trips that Morgan and Hastings took searching for steam in the 50s, and the great job that they did chronicling its last days in the fifties.
