I watched a 1946 London and North Eastern video about a signal box at the outer end of a passenger station. Was the uniformed man sitting at a desk the train director? Immediately to his right was a younger man, maybe his clerk. I also noticed what I thought was an assistant train director giving orders to two sets of levermen.

The video was very intersting what with all the levers the men had to throw. One needs to understand the British terminalogy verses US terminalogy. Are any manned signal boxes still in operation?
