BNSF not enjoying winter
Posted by Jr64 on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 2:06 PM

There was a grain train derailment in Milbank, SD early Monday morning which derailed the locomotives and 23 cars.  There was a coal train on the siding that was involved to some extent as well.  It is my understanding there was a train stuck a ways west of Milbank and then this happened to the east.  It's a Facebook link so not sure if you all can see it or not.  All this took place after a blizzard on Sunday.

The Rapid City, Fort Pierre & Eastern isn't having much fun eathier. They had about 15 cars derail last Thursday near Wessington SD. News photos show big piles of snow to work around.

"BNSF not enjoying winte"

Is this a subtle indicator there is too much SF and not enough BN in their management structure??

At the time of the merger, BN was headquartered in Texas and ATSF in Chicago (a proper railroad town) so that's Ironically backwards.

Word on the Railfan grapevine  is that the Glendive based BNSF rotary is working east from Terry, MT on the former MILW.
