What is Up with News Wire?
Posted by seppburgh2 on Friday, February 15, 2019 9:02 PM

The News Wire sometime think I'm a subscriber and other times not. For several days now keep receiving the error message "The full text of this article is available to Trains Magazine subscribers only."  I'm logged out/in, reset my password, looked for my subscription and no change.  Yet other news up show up as always.  Example of showing OK

Subscription error message news item

Been a long time subscriber, anyone else having this behavioral issue with the news?

If you chose the save password function or always remain logged in option...

The password is stored in a cookie in your internet browser cache.  You might be clearing that out on occasion which forces another login or you might have security software that periodically does a file cleanup of stored cookies (same behavior).

The other item causing it is that the newswire is on a different server than the trains forums and other software and internally the website server software is not passing the information correctly back and forth.   So you might be logged into the Trains Forums but unless that info is passed to newswire it thinks your logged off requiring you to login again.

Best way to clear this is just to go into internet options on your webbrowser and delete all history as well as clear the cache of cookies.    Login again to trains website and it should be stable for a while at least.

I've got a program running that looks for malware and cookies when it scans.  Occasionally it'll delete the trains cookie and I have to log back in.  The only problem is remembering the password I used for that...
