The person, not the transportaiton comapny.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Mr. Hunt's last day as a member of the corporate board will be 12/31/04.

He is a former Arkansas truck driver who built a transportation empire. He is one of those people who just didn't understand that: "It just can't be done, and if it could be done, you couldn't be the one to do it."

Well, he did it. All he needed was an opportunity. With transportation deregulation he got the opportunity. He has changed US transportation for the better.
"By many measures, the U.S. freight rail system is the safest, most efficient and cost effective in the world." - Federal Railroad Administration, October, 2009. I'm just your average, everyday, uncivilized howling "anti-government" critic of mass government expenditures for "High Speed Rail" in the US. And I'm gosh darn proud of that.

Well I don't know if it is for the better or not. He has changed the landscape of this country for sure. I know folks who worked for J B Hunt in both driving and office positions. Low pay and slow trucks will only help so often. I am glad that he was able to turn his company into what it is today and help in the competition field.
