Just had a great thought. Amtrak needs to persuede UPS to wrap some locos or cars. This is helpful in three ways. First gets UPS some more advertising, second helps Amtraks bottom line and third it might confuse dispatchers enough to the point they think they are moving a high-priority train over the main and actually help Amtrak run on time

Well you can't only one. But just think about how the value drops the second you leave the lot.

That is true.....when I worked for Greyhound they had some wrapped buses, some where neat, others were just downright ugly. Used to cringe when I'd see them roll in. Even had a few passengers complain. My general answer to them was, "it keeps ticket prices lower, that should be pretty enough."

Makes big money to "wrap" them. Greyhound and city transit agencies have done it for years. There are truck trailers out there "wrapped" too. If a company wants to pay Amtrak for the advertising space, let them. Toyota makes money, Amtrak makes money. Everyone complains about how Amtrak needs more funding, so here they go and find a way to do so, and there are people who don't like it either. You can't please all the people all the time. How would you write that up in an accident report-Giant Toyota pick up takes a bite out of sub compact car?

What about buses in big cities that have ads on the side of them? Is this the railroad variation?

If you're riding the train you won't notice the Toyota Tundra up forward so easily. Remember the story about the Parisian who hated the looks of the Eiffel Tower but was a daily patron of the restaurant in the base. It was the only restaurant close to home that didn't have a view of the tower.

Haven't seen that unit yet.I think this is a good idea. Amtrak needs all the money it can get!

While looking over www.railpictures.net this evening I came accross two photos of AMT 115 in a very strange paint scheme with a really big picture of a Toyota Tundra pickup truck on each side. Question, is Amtrak that hard up? What's next, a Big Mac on one side, a Quarter Pounder on the other and Ronald McDonald's face on the front of the unit?
