That post is a bit stale.

The only group I'm aware of is the Calrailfans group on Yahoo! Groups:

Many in the bay area. Two that come to mind Bay Area Electric Railway Association. BAERA runs the Western Railway Museum in Rio Vista. They also have a monthly meeting. Another is the Northern California Railfans Association or NorCal. I've been out of touch with both groups for some time do I'm not sure where they meet now. Also the Market Street Railway has a group and museum in the city.

It's been ages since I lived in that area, but if I had your question, I'd be sure to start my search with the folks at  Niles Canyon Railroad and/or The Niles Depot museum. They'll certainly have up to the minute info on who's got what out there.

SF Bay Area/California Railfan Groups?

Hello,

I was wondering if there are organized railfanning groups for the Norcal region.  I'd like to be able to get notice of what might be coming and communicate with other local railfans.  Do you know of any groups I could join?  I tried doing a google search, but didn't come up with much.

Also, what are your opinions on railfan groups?  As a fairly young railfanner who doesn't really network with others at the point, would you recommend joining a group?

Thank you!
