The Norfolk Southern train was transporting boxes of mouthwash and there were no hazardous materials involved
Any details on the derailment, including anticipated re-opening of the line? How is NS re-routing their trains?
This made the local Chicago news along with video which seems unusual.

All of Pittsburgh can now gargle.
*(gotta add the H, not in Kansas anymore) Made the news here as well....so much for separating light rail and heavy rail!
Many years ago there was the Rt 51 Allentown route that went around Mt. Washington. It was a hoot to ride in the road vs. private ROW. When talking once to a Motorman he told me the reason this route was served as it was the emergency line should something happen to Station Square. Well, as time went on this route was cut for budget reasons. Have to think now this route may come back? Glad I don't go DawnTawn any more, n-at!
That route on Arlington Ave. is still in place and is used when the tunnel is closed. I haven't heard but I would guess that it is being used for this event. Some of it is single track.
Is it a correct observation that the heavy rail tracks are at a higher elevation at this location and the derailed cars fell on to the light rail tracks?
Yes
PAT is currently running detour operation on the "over-the-hill" line via Allentown. Some of the derailed train was upslope from the connector off the Mon Bridge to the Allentown line, so PAT felt that operation there was too risky and suspended the service for a while while NS set up cranes and other equipment. Service there has resumed, with 20-45 minute delays compared to normal operation via the Mt. Washington Tunnel. PAT has accepted an NS offer to help with track repairs on the light rail line.

Another site said NS offered to help repair the PAT light rail tracks
MP173How is NS re-routing their trains?
Whilst in Deshler this week, several possible NS trains came through. Nobody seemed to recognize them as any of the usual CSX trains.
One NS locomotive qualified as probably the rattiest loco I've ever seen on it's own train. I've seen some nasty leasers, but this one...
