It looks like something that the passenger agent would pass out after a group sale.  With that 1896 publishing date, the rules of football and hockey would be most interesting.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

Can you imagine a Railroad doing something like this today? The shàreholders would howl about wasting money.

Oh, I don't know.  It was a PR thing.  Nice gesture.  Companies do those things.

We'd do things.  I remember a charity calling me up about moving containers of rice from Memphis to New Orleans to go to Africa. I was able to call back and tell him we'd move the rice at no charge.  I did tell him we wanted no publicity.  I didn't want everyone calling me up to get free transportation.

But if a legitimate charity called and ask, particularly to move food for hungry folks, we'd waive charges.  And no shareholder or official ever complained about us doing so.

"By many measures, the U.S. freight rail system is the safest, most efficient and cost effective in the world." - Federal Railroad Administration, October, 2009. I'm just your average, everyday, uncivilized howling "anti-government" critic of mass government expenditures for "High Speed Rail" in the US. And I'm gosh darn proud of that.
