Operation Lifesaver #8752
Posted by dstill on Friday, April 26, 2002 6:14 PM
I saw CSX train Q646 come through Waxhaw,NC from Hamlet,NCon 4/25/2002 with Operation Lifesaver #8752 as a trailing unit behind 2 SD70Mac. This engine had no ownership markings but was old geep, dark black with large white nunbers on the long hood, I would say GP9 or 10, just quessing. I know several people have sites with shots from around Hamlet, NC, anyone have quess who this unit belongs too.

The large white #'s on the long hood would make me believe it was an old IC geep, maybe. That's at least my guess.

Operation Lifesaver is an organization between the various railroads and communities to promote rail safety, particulary at grade crossings and long rights of way. Their website is www.oli.org and has contact for local branches.

Not to change the subject, but I saw that same train (Q646) down here in Clinton, SC on that same day with that #8752. I'm wondering the same thing
