One gets the impression that the Lewis era in the mid to late 1980’s so changed the Union Pacific company that McCartney left.  It has to be wondered if Kenefick had chosen someone within the company to succeed him instead of the outsider Lewis if McCartney would have stayed at UP until he retired.
