I don't work for TRAINS Magazine or any other publication.  I do actively pursue my passion of photographing trains, and if I have an image that fits the theme in the Trackside feature i submit it.

It may simply be that he actually submits photos each time.  I have sometimes thought about submitting on the rare occasions when I recall a good shot that closely matches the theme, but ultimately the deadline always passes without action.

I think he does- met him on an NRHS excursion when they had their convention in CR a few years ago.

Does Alex Mayes work for Trains Magazine? He seems to have a photo included in every batch.

Laugh When I click on either link from the post, I only get to see the page of photos for about 3 seconds. Then the screen is overtaken by an ad for Trains Magazine 12 ISSUES+ FREE GIFT. SUBSCRIBE NOW >>

I had the same experience.  After a few tries I switched to Firefox, and using that there was now an "X" to close the ad.

I did figure out how to push Ctrl & - a couple of times to shrink it down enough so that the "X" showed up. Before that it was oversized for the screen and made me think of the ghost in Ghostbusters.

I went with Ken Williamson's photo of a shortline engineer on a local freight.  A nice shot of everyday railroading.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

There should be an "X" near the upper right hand corner of the major window... click it and the overlay will go away.

I voted for Dale's photo.  The engineer was wearing a Conrail hat!  That was enough for me.  (That, and it was a nice photo!)
