Problem with the email notifications of the forum
Posted by RailroadXplorer on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 8:38 PM

I wanted to change my email notifications settings but when I click on the option, here is what I see;

Server Error in '/' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An exception occurred while processing your request. Additionally, another exception occurred while executing the custom error page for the first exception. The request has been terminated.

What changes do you want to make?

If you are receiving emails on a certain thread and you want to stop that thread, there is a line at the bottom of the email which gives you the opportunity to stop them from coming in on your email.

Previously I was receiving e-mail notification of Personal Messages from the Trains system.  Now I am NOT.  Something has changed but I don't know when.

From time to time, I receive email notices of postings to Kalmbach threads--and noting shows up when I go to the thread.

Click on one of the other links (like, "Your Photos") then when that page loads, click on the "Email Notifications" link on that page.

I have notified the moderators of this thread in the hopes that they will see the problem.  It seems to be just the link on the topics pages is broken, not the same link on other pages of the forum.

In fact, I was just interested to see if I can receive only one email notification per day instead of one for every post people make on my thread.

What he's talking about is using the "Email Notifications" control in the 'Manage Profile | Settings' box.  On my system (running Firefox 57.0.4 64-bit under OS X 10.9.5) I get a very similar error message, which I think confirms it's a Kalmbach server-side error.  It's also broken in 'Blogs and Forums' and perhaps other parts of the site.

Others are correct in noting that going to another page (I tested 'Favorites', 'Help','Messages' and 'Your Discussions'; I'll let Kalmbach tech walk the site map) brings up an email notification configuration page, which says I have not configured the option.  On the other hand, the link from the 'Edit Post' page is broken.

Fascinatingly, to me, clicking on the 'Subscribe' tab correctly makes it turn green, but deselecting it makes the option disappear entirely; similarly toggling 'Add to Favorites' produces the same result.  Reloading the page with the browser brings back 'Subscribe' but not Favorites.

Hey, Johnny, your suggestion to the original poster DID work for me!  Thanks.
