Thank You everyone for the kind words.
We are getting another Pug in the Fall Sept or Oct.
I have also had to say goodbye to some dear four-legged friends, and it never gets any easier. You truly are losing a member of your family.
Take time to grieve, but as time passes you will be able to look back and smile at fond memories of your friend. Like Dr. Seuss said, don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.
Perhaps this is too soon but Greyhounds is right, there are many dogs out there who could use a good home like yours. I wish you good fortune in finding another friend.
Greetings from Alberta

Or this from the Twilight Zone: Says Rod at the end--
"A man can walk through the gates of hell with his eyes wide open but not even the Devil himself can't fool a dog".
God looks after all his creatures.
Our sincere sympathies to you Conrailman. We're on our eighth Basset Hound and it never gets easier to say goodby.
We believe in the Rainbow Bridge. And as Will Rogers once said, "If there's no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they go."
I'm sorry for your loss. Time will heal the hurt, but won't erase their memory. It may be too soon to think about getting another dog, but know this Just because you do get another pet, doesn't mean you'll forget the memory and love you're Pug gave and received.
Two years ago today we had to have our cat Tom put to sleep. He drifted off to the next level while I held him. We had him 16 years and still miss him. We still have a cat, but that doesn't mean we don't think about Tom and a couple of other cats we've had to say goodbye to over the years.

I appologize in advance for the following. IMO, K.P. can just stuff some of what he said.
I view dogs as a gift from God. But in the end they all break our hearts because they leave us.
I've bawled like a baby when I had to watch my friends "Put Down". And I've bawled like a baby when they just died.
You may take solace knowing that you gave Pug a good life. That's all that you could do. Dogs are mortal and that sucks. But so are we. There's another dog needing a home. Take him/her into your stewardship and share the love again.
MikeFF Conrailman, a Francican priest once told me that when I got to heaven, my dogs would be there to greet me. I've lost several and I'm looking forward to that. Do the same, take some time to heal, and get another. Murphy Siding is right-there are so many who need us.

As a pet owner, I ache for your loss, You've received some very good, and I suspect, heartfelt advice from other posters. Understand that death, like life, is apart of our process of living. The death of a pet is particularly heart wrenching. A pet brings only unconditional love to their side of a relationship; they ask little in return for their contributions, their understanding is great, while their responses are mute.
Their departure is the departure of a close, and good friend. You will heal and life will go on; as Norris (Murphy Siding) said, there are numerous other pets who will welcome a chance to make your road in life more easily traveled. Take them along.

I'm sorry for your loss. Keep in mind that somewhere out there is another dog that needs a good home.
Thanks to Chris / CopCarSS for my avatar.
My condolences. I know just how you feel but time does heal and he will live on in your memories.
Dogs are unconditional love covered with fur.
My heart breaks for your loss.

Your initial post was a bit difficult to interpret, but I perceive you lost a pet, named Pug, likely a family dog. My sympathies go out to you, you possibly being a younger one … at least not an old geezer like I am.
Losing a pet can be heart wrenching. But, it is good to realize pets – animals – are NOT in the image of God. Not to get this thread locked, but animals were used in Biblical times as pictures, and were regularly offered up as dead burnt offerings under the Mosaic Law. Those burnt offerings were unconscious. Likewise, with Pug! As one veterinarian I did contract work for said to me in putting a pet to sleep, its gone.
While you may not think so presently, but you WILL get over it in a few days!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- K.P.’s absolute “theorem” from early, early childhood that he has seen over and over and over again: Those that CAUSE a problem in the first place will act the most violently if questioned or exposed.
Sorry for your loss. The trip over the rainbow bridge is never an easy one.
