EHH obituary
Posted by NP Eddie on Thursday, December 21, 2017 2:26 PM

ALL:

I read EHH's obituary in the "Chciago Tribune". It was one and one half columns (at least). That lengthy obituary cost a lot of money and that money could have been donated to a charity instead of proclaiming the entire history of EHH's life.

I'd imagine that was paid for out of the $84,000,000.

I saw the obit in the Trib.  It was a regular news item, not a paid death notice.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

Well, they should have realized it is news, not a paid Death Notice.  But there is so much venom on here about EHH, folks will say anything, no matter how ridiculous and erroneous, out of spite.

I agree w/ Eddie. Just glancing at it and not reading in detail, way too much written of information that mean much ado about nothing for Joe Trackside. My wife is a Methodist pastor and deals w/death. Many people have advanced obits already written up. The length and what is submitted is from that person or family members and pastors can and do help write them. Mine....very small limited in scope. A single paragraph. No boring details of a boring guy from KS.

ALL:

My intention of the first post was to call attention to the large obituary (paid or not) of EHH. I do not like large flowery obituaries, listing all the accomplishments the person had done in their lives. Such large obituaries are tacky in my opinion.

Ed,

My obit will simply read "Bye Norm".

Isn't it time to lay off ehh. If you want to be critical of what he did professionally fine, but being critical of any persons obit,is a bit over the line.

His wife and daughters didn't do anything wrong, therefore should be allowed to put a loving obituary in the paper. Nobody who hated him has to read it.

Suspect he treated his horses better than his employees.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

But it isn't an obituary. It's a news item written by the news desk and so it's telling the story of someone that readers may not know. It's entirely appropriate.
