The Bureau of Transportation Statistics has issued a report on 'Long-Term Growth in Freight Transportation' which, among other things, claims that the growth in rail transportation from 2003 to the recession starting in 2008 was greatly higher than growth since the 'end' of the recession. I suspect several participants here will have good and targeted insight into the issues the BTS statistical analysis raises.
