Noticed that many Amtrak trains in the Southern California have taken delay up to 2- 3 hours for the SD trains.  Any one heard about freights ?

US 101 closed for a while this morning now open .  UP coast line closed north of LAX al day so no surfliners or Starlights. Starlight terminating at Oakland guess for maintenance servicing ?

It looks like a good 10 miles or more of the SP coast line was in the fire zone - basically line between Ventura and Carpenteria, so UP took the prudent path and shut the line down. There isn't much fuel near the tracks (my son is at UCSB), so don't expect much damage, but the smoke is extremely heavy.

Update: Finals at UCSB were rescheduled for beginning of winter quarter, so he got lucky and got a ride home Sunday. Lucky because Amtrak cancelled service north of Oxnard for Monday and Tuesday on top of the fire entering Santa Barbara County.
