Lucky 13th Annual Trainfest TRAINS Forum Photo Op
Posted by kschmidt on Sunday, November 5, 2017 11:09 AM

It is that time of year again. The leaves are falling from the trees.  Football season is in full swing, even though Aaron Rodgers is injured.  And it is time for Trainfest in Milwaukee, WI.  I believe that this is the 47th or 48th Annual Trainfest.  It is held on the second weekend of November.  This year it is November 11th and 12th.  It is held at Wisconsin State Fair Park Exposition Building in West Allis, WI.  It includes many manufcaturers including Kalmbach Publishing.  There is also operating layouts and hobby shops.  There are also clinics presented on various topics.  The last several years there has been a "Celebrate a Railroad" at Trainfest. This year it is the Soo Line being highlighted.

For the last 13 years myself and friend engine1385 (Dave) have organized a TRAINS forum photo opportunity for those forum members in attendance.  This year will be "Lucky 13".  If you are attending we will meet at the Kalmbach Publishing booth at 12noon for the photo.  Dave always brings the original sign that he made some 13 years ago.  Last year I posted some of the older photos taken.  Interesting to see how people change.

Hope to see you there.

Uh-oh.

I can just see the reaction if I announced that we (the photographer and myself) wanted to swing up to Milwaukee on the 11th.  We have a trip to Michigan on the 9th, choir rehearsal on the evening of the 9th, a wedding near home on the 10th, and obligations at church on the 12th.  And one of those days this week our plumber will be working on bathroom renovations that are long overdue, in time for Thanksgiving guests.  I don't think I (let alone we) will be making it this time.

We usually include a trip to Duplainville (for me) and the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts (for Pat) in these trips, so it's more than the opportunity to buy railfan materials and the photo op that we'll be out.
