Expanding the Hobby / Interest Group
Posted by CMStPnP on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 12:12 PM

I just renewed for three years on Trains and will probably do so on Model Railroader.  I know I posted this before but one thing we can all do to expand the hobby is to get your local library to also subscribe to Trains and Model Railroader.    Expecially, if you are in a middle income or above community, many librarians are looking for suggestions on how to expand their periodical mix and very few librarians have heard of Trains Magazine or Model Railroader but once you bring in  a copy and suggest it they are usually more than happy to try a trial subscription then track the usage / checkouts.

Give it a try at the very worst you will help expand Trains subscriber base.   A little effort here by everyone can have a big impact.

Our little library now has a small model railroad group - I just haven't had time to partake.  I'll have to see if they are getting any railroad periodicals at all.

I'll add that if you can afford it, maybe a "gift" subscription to one of the magazines would be a nice gesture.

My local public library seems to have cut back on periodicals, as they increased the number of computers.
