On a trin with a Schnabel car, there are 2 cabooses. The first isfor the Schnable car personnel and the rear one is for the railroad. crew.
How many railroad personnel are on the rear caboose? Are they brakeman, conductors or supervosirs?
it would normally be just Cdr and brakeman, any supervisor would most likely ride with Engineer , but there could be others like track workers as some obstacles need moving at tight spots like signs or switch handles.
Based only on my readings of Schnabel car transportation of heavy/high/wide objects I would suspect there is considerable planning before the movement. Clearances, both horizontal and vertical, have to be considered.
I am not aware of how many crew ride the cabooses but I think there would be enough personnel aboard to shift the load when conditions require that.

With the railroad's current two man crews - both members of the railroad's operating crew will be on the locomotive.
Cabooses with schnabel loads will normally be considered a part of the shipment and supplied by the shipper/consignee of the shipment. They will be used by shipper/consignee personnel and possibly railroad supervision (both operating (Trainmaster etc. and non-operating Clearance Bureau etc.).
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
