His grandfather was the Vice Admiral commanding the Fast Carrier Task Force 38 under Halsey during the Iwo Jima campaign. His father was a decorated submarine captain during WW2 and later commanded the Pacific Fleet during the Cold War.

CMStPnP

Interestingly he is not using a VA Hospital.

Maybe he has doubts about the care he would receive there.Sigh

Thanks to Chris / CopCarSS for my avatar.

I won't give up hope of John McCain's recovery.  I think his behavior while a POW showed greater loyalty to the USA than demonstrated by any other active politician.  I frankly don't think that I  would have had the strength to rise to the hights of moral behaviour that he did.  I probably would have found a way to commit suicide rather than bare the real pain he suffered with for so much of his time as a POW.

A form of cancer that was formally treatable only by surgery was found in Israel to be treatable by a combination of ingestable drugs.  People seeing the transformation in the patient considered it a miracle.

So I am hoping the same for John McCain.  And I happen to agree with him on most issues, not all but most.

Isn't McCain the guy who got in trouble for calling Chelsea Clinton "ugly"?

Dave,

If John McCain has brain cancer I suspect he is not long for this world. A few years back a friend of mine died from that. The downhill slide was swift and certain. As I recall, it was less than six months from the day of the diagnosis until his death. I'm not a doctor so I can't offer a medically informed opinion whether he will recover or not. I have only the observation of my friend to go by.

As an aside, it is my opinion that most politicians are suffering from that malady. They disregard the wishes of their constituents and only seek to further their own interests and ambitions at the expense of those who elected them.

Likewise, had a friend who stumbled at hiw workplace in July and was taken to the ER for treatment - was diagnosed then and did not see Christmas.  RIP Dan!

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

This is way off topic, but i hope the moderator has enough compassion to let it stay.  I make up a list of sick people for the Yeshiva to pray for recovery.  The form is the name of the person and the Hebrew for "son of ____," (or daughter of ___,")  the latter being the first name of the mother.  Normally both gmail and yahoo are good at directing me to Wikapedia, and I can get the information even with the limited bandwidth provided by Bezek to the Yeshiva.  Tonight both yahoo and gmail are giving me problems.  All I get is a choice of images or web and the latter choice produces nothing.  Can someone please find John McCain's mother's first name and post it and/or emial it to me at daveklepper@yahoo.com?   Thanks!
