I've been to LaPlata and I can tell you they really move through there, I never saw a speed limit sign but my guess would be 70

At this moment, 9:12 CDT, Amtrak shows #3 at 91 mph west of La Plata.  It's 16 minutes late, so I guess it is pedal to the metal time, so to speak.

Thanks diningcar, Amtrak trains 3/4 both stop at LaPlata so speed is not big there but WOW do the intermodal trains tear through there! I see some fast trains on the "racetrack" around here but nothing like we see on the railcam at LaPlata.

Speed was 90 for passenger and 55 for freight unless provided by special instructions. Probably it is now 70 for freight that has designation for that speed.

LaPlata, MO speed limit on transcon

Can anybody tell me what the maximum speed limit is on the old Santa Fe transcon main line at LaPlata, MO.  I just began viewing the railcam there and my guess is 70 but I would appreciate a confirmation. Thanks.
